¡España!

We docked practically in downtown Cádiz, so it's easy access for everyone; we're also about 5 minutes from the train and 10 from the bus, which makes getting out and about simple.

Janna and I went to Sevilla for the weekend with friends (2 hours by train) and enjoyed a blitz through this wonderful southern city, crammed with gorgeous architecture (Moorish and Christian), lovely parks, and great food.

After two full days of sightseeing, we returned to Cádiz in time to enjoy a late-nite (midnight) tapas dinner at El Aljibe restaurant. On Tuesday we had a lovely lunch with Desmond and Leah Tutu at El Faro, one of Cádiz's best restaurants, and were not only greeted by the owner (in the picture) but also, when the extraordinary meal was over, unexpectedly "invited" by her (ie, comped)! A Swiss woman who approached us told the Archbishop that she is a retired UN translator, and had translated for him 20 years ago at the UN! We've had a few incidents with the students (passports and the like), but so far, they're all well, excited, and thoroughly enjoying Spain. As are we. Tonight, a dozen of us will dine at El Ventorrillo del Chato, Europe's longest continuously-running restaurant (opened as an inn in 1780).
Tomorrow, we sail for Morocco.

  1. You rave about food right above a picture of horses...I'm worried.
